Yay! Presents! There’s nothing like opening a gift on a special occasion. Carefully peeling away that pretty bow and unwrapping that beautiful wrapping paper, and checking out what you got. I am the first to admit that I love getting presents. I also love giving presents. There are so many gifts you can give a traveller that will come in handy on their journey to wherever they are headed. Just don’t be stuck giving them a completely unflattering money belt that they will probably leave at home, tucked away in the deepest darkest depths of their closest. Here are a few gifts, that are way better than that unsexy money belt!
iTunes Gift Card
As much as you think this is lame, an iTunes gift card is so not lame! There are so many awesome travel apps out there, but they can cost money. Yes, $3 – $5 isn’t that much for an app, however if your travel buddy is on a budget they are probably saving every penny they can for their trip. Coming from experience, every dollar counts when your saving. They may not want to part with their dollars just for an app. So, this gift card will be a treat!
Filtered Water Bottle
A filtered water bottle is such a great present to get a traveller, especially if they are headed to a country where drinking the tap water is a big no no. And saving the planet one plastic water bottle at a time is an added bonus. There are so many filtration systems out there, it’s hard to pick just one. I recommend Clearly Filtered Stainless Steel Water Bottle. Filtering 99% bacteria and other nasties from the water, and it is so easy to use! Don’t forget to put livedreamwander in the discount code box, upon check-out, to get 10% off.
Lonely Planet guide books are a must have for any type of traveller. Tips from budget ideas, where to eat, where to stay, what to do, transportation, and so much more all packed into one guide book. Needless to say, you need to know where they are headed, don’t give them a guide book to a random country!
Guide books aren’t the only thing you can give your travelling buddy. A good old fashion reading book they can have on their journey, always makes a great present. Stories inspiring travel, or other travel reads are always an option. You can’t go wrong with Amazon, you’ll be able to find pretty much anything on there. If you are completely unsure, Amazon also offers gift cards. That way they can choose whichever book they like.
I love travel journals! I am not one to write ‘Dear Diary, today I….. blah, blah, blah. But I do like quick notes of where I been and what I experienced. Etsy is never short of any type of travel gifts and has a massive range of unique travel journals.
Framed Map or Quote
Again, this is where Etsy is one of those awesome websites to find this sort of stuff. Most travellers love a good travel quote, so why not give a framed quote they put on display. Another framed idea is a world map. I never get tired of looking up at my framed map and have all the memories run through my head about each and every country I have been to. Guaranteed to put a smile on their face. Good times!
