Ok so I know that we are already just over half way through January, can you believe it! But it is never to late to set goals at any time of year. I don’t believe in New Year resolutions, setting goals though is always a good idea if you want to head towards those dreams of yours.
Be More Positive
This is one of those areas everyone should try and be mindful of. Studies have shown that the brain naturally thinks more negative than positive. Something very positive will generally have less of an impact on a person’s behavior and cognition than something equally emotional but negative. However you can rewire your brain to look at the more positive outcome in a situation. It really can turn your emotional status around. I find it helps to start off small. They say it takes 21 days to change the mindset. Everyday for 21 days write down three things that you are grateful for. This not only changes your mindset, it will put you in the right direction to think more positive.
Im a bad one for this! I always wake up fresh in the morning and think “yes, I’m going to do this and do that and all my dreams are going to come true!” Exact opposite happens at night when Im falling asleep. That doubt starts to rear its ugly head, it creeps in and starts making me think that I totally can’t do all the things that I was thinking this morning, How could I anyway? What the heck was I thinking!!!!! And by the time I turn my brain around its 1am and I know I’m going to wake up and be Miss Grumpy Pants for the rest of the day. Thats where the positive thinking comes in! Be strong and never let your little doubts embed into your brain. Life is short, do what you love. You can always set out and make your dreams come true. You never know something amazing might come of it!
Do More of What You Love
I love chilling out, lighting a few candles and doing an at home yoga or mediation session, I just never have enough time to do it as often as I like. Now I know that wouldn’t be what everyone loves to do! Im sure though, that there is something that you love to do but never have enough time to do it. I am going to make more of an effort this year to take some time for myself even if it is 20 minutes a day. I know that it always makes me feel so much better afterward. I know you know the feeling I’m talking about!
Call My Family More
I need to do this! Granted it is hard, I live in a totally different time zone then the rest of my family. No excuse though! When time gets away as fast as it does we forget the people that are most important to us. Life is too short not to pick up the phone more often and just say Hi.
Explore New Places & Try Something New
Well this one is kind of a given right! I have great things heading my way this year in terms of exploring new places and trying new things. I have an amazing solo trip coming up very soon. My first solo travel adventure! Yes I’m counting down the days! Make sure you do one thing this year that is new. If you don’t have plans to do this, then make some. It doesn’t have to be travel, although its always good for the soul! It can be anything. Do something in your home town that you’ve never done before, take a new class at the gym, go to that sweet restaurant that you’ve been eyeing for a while. Like I said it can be anything!
I think 2016 is going to be an incredible year!
